The importance of accurate job specs
Folks sometimes forget that commercial printing is a custom manufacturing operation. As such, there are many details of the project that we need to know to give you a great outcome!
When we receive a request for an estimate, we work up an accurate price that is based on its specific requirements. Even a small change between the specifications submitted and the actual job will result in us having to start over, re-estimating the project and re-launching the ticket, causing delays in turn-around.
Whether it's quantity, number of inks and coverage, small adjustments to size, bleeds, finishing changes, any change to one or more of these items may seem small but still requires us to re-quote the job. Beyond that, changes to paper or quantity may require us to order more, causing more delays.
If you're not sure about an item, let us know what the issue is. If you have any questions on how to write the job up accurately, consider sitting down with your sales rep ahead of time and writing them up together.
If you want your job to sail through our operation, the best thing you can do is to provide us with accurate specifications before the job comes in, along with a sense of when the files will be available and when you need your job delivered. Following this simple rule will ensure your job runs smoothly and your invoice contains no surprises.
